Dayton, Ohio has long been present in the history and tradition of the PDGA. In 1989, then resident Steve Wisecup won the Disc Golf World Championship in Waterloo, Iowa by a margin of 3 strokes. Two years later in 1991, 160 Pro Disc Golfers competed for The Disc Golf World Championship at Kitty Hawk and Belmont Park in Dayton, OH. Capturing just his second world title, Ken Climo won by 10 strokes as Elaine King finished off the Women's Division with her first World Title.
The Wright Brothers Open has been held for over 10 years; the last 9 using the Wright Brothers name and the last 6 years as a PDGA Sanctioned Event. Disc Golf in Dayton has never been stronger. With a growing club of almost 350 members the Dayton Disc Golf Association is proud to present our courses and our community to the participants of the 2008 Wright Brothers Open.
Have fun, and we'll see you in September!
